Senior Process Engineer - Petrochemical

Our client, a prominent player in the petrochemical industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their operations team in Richards Bay . This role is integral to optimizing and ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of their complex chemical processing facilities. You will be responsible for process design, troubleshooting, improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to stringent industry standards.

This is a key position for an individual looking to leverage their expertise in a challenging industrial environment within the Kwa Zulu-Natal region, contributing to vital industrial processes.

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to ensure operational safety and regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and mass/energy balances.
• Lead or participate in process improvement projects, utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and junior engineers on process operations and safety.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the petrochemical, chemical, or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Experience with HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and process safety management (PSM) principles.
• Excellent understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
