Mechanical Draughtsperson

Our client seeks a meticulous and skilled Mechanical Draughtsperson to join their engineering team in Richards Bay, Kwa Zulu-Natal . This role is essential for translating engineering concepts into detailed technical drawings and models that guide manufacturing and construction processes. You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers and other technical staff to produce accurate and clear drawings for a variety of projects, including plant equipment and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of drafting standards, and proficiency in CAD software, contributing to the company's robust engineering output in the key industrial port city of Richards Bay .

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Create and update engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts based on design specifications and mark-ups.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to company drafting standards, industry codes, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical drawing files and revision control systems.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports.

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade qualification (e.g., Artisan Draughting).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Draughtsperson.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar.
• Understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all drafting work.
