Senior Mechanical Designer

• Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies using advanced CAD software.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing.
• Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Oversee and mentor junior designers and drafters.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Troubleshoot design issues and propose effective solutions.
• Manage design documentation and revision control.
• Stay abreast of new design tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the design department's processes and standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA, Inventor).
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software.
• Proven ability to lead design projects and mentor junior team members.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
• Experience in the industrial or heavy manufacturing sector is highly desirable in Richards Bay .
