Senior Data Scientist - NLP Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Scientist with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their innovative team in Richards Bay . You will be instrumental in unlocking insights from text data, developing sophisticated NLP models, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires a blend of strong analytical skills, deep understanding of machine learning, and practical experience in applying NLP techniques to solve business problems.

• Develop and deploy advanced NLP models for tasks such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text classification, and named entity recognition.
• Clean, preprocess, and analyze large volumes of unstructured text data.
• Design and implement machine learning experiments to evaluate model performance and identify improvements.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to integrate NLP solutions into user-facing applications and internal tools.
• Communicate complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in NLP and AI.

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant focus on NLP.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries such as NLTK, spaCy, Transformers, scikit-learn.
• Solid understanding of deep learning architectures for NLP (e.g., RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers).
• Experience with data processing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques for text data.
• Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving abilities.
