Specialized Deep Cleaning Technician - Petrochemical Plants

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and safety-conscious Specialized Deep Cleaning Technician to work in demanding petrochemical plant environments in Richards Bay, Kwa Zulu-Natal . This role requires expertise in handling hazardous materials, operating specialized high-pressure cleaning equipment, and performing deep cleaning tasks on complex industrial machinery and structures. The successful candidate must possess an unwavering commitment to safety, a thorough understanding of industrial hygiene, and the ability to work effectively in challenging conditions.

This is a critical position that ensures the operational integrity and safety of the plant by maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness. Your role will be essential in preventing contamination, ensuring equipment functionality, and upholding stringent safety regulations.

• Perform specialized deep cleaning of reactors, vessels, pipelines, heat exchangers, and other critical equipment within petrochemical facilities.
• Operate advanced cleaning machinery such as high-pressure water jets, vacuum trucks, and chemical cleaning systems.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and waste materials in strict accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct pre-cleaning and post-cleaning inspections, documenting conditions and results.
• Ensure all work is performed safely, adhering to strict permit-to-work systems and site safety procedures.
• Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Assist in the maintenance and readiness of specialized cleaning equipment.
• Work collaboratively with plant operations and maintenance teams during scheduled shutdowns and maintenance periods.
• Identify potential safety hazards and report them immediately to supervisors.
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of cleaning activities performed.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in specialized industrial or petrochemical cleaning.
• Proven experience with high-pressure water jetting, vacuum systems, and chemical cleaning techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of hazardous material handling and safety protocols (HAZMAT).
• Strong understanding of petrochemical plant operations and associated safety requirements.
• Possession of relevant certifications (e.g., working at heights, confined space entry, HAZWOPER) is highly advantageous.
• Must be physically fit, able to work in demanding environments, and pass a rigorous medical examination.
• Willingness to work extended hours, shifts, and during plant turnarounds/shutdowns in Richards Bay .
• Strong safety mindset and ability to follow complex procedures meticulously.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
