Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Chemist to join their Analytical Development team in Richards Bay . This critical role focuses on the development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods for characterization and quality control of new chemical entities and existing products. You will play a key role in ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance through rigorous analytical testing and method optimization.
The position requires a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and techniques, combined with hands‑on laboratory experience. You will work within a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory facility, collaborating with formulation scientists and process engineers to bring innovative chemical products to market.
- Develop and validate robust analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy) for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Perform routine and non‑routine analytical testing to support product development, process optimization, and quality control.
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and resolve method-related issues effectively.
- Write detailed method development reports, validation protocols, and analytical procedures.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, providing analytical expertise and support throughout the product lifecycle.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical method development and validation within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Expertise in various analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, FTIR, UV-Vis, and titration.
- Strong understanding of analytical method validation principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., ICH guidelines).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, and experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
