About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Research Scientist specializing in Synthetic Chemistry to join their pioneering R&D department located in Richards Bay . You will be responsible for designing and executing complex synthetic routes, characterizing new compounds, and contributing to the optimization of chemical processes.

• Design and synthesize novel organic molecules using modern synthetic methodologies.
• Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, MS, HPLC, and GC.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for efficiency, yield, and scalability.
• Conduct literature reviews to identify new synthetic strategies and research opportunities.
• Collaborate with analytical chemists and process engineers to ensure successful compound characterization and potential scale‑up.

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry .
• Demonstrated expertise in multi‑step synthesis, reaction optimization, and purification techniques.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic characterization methods (NMR, MS, IR) and chromatographic techniques.
• Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and ability to troubleshoot synthetic challenges.
