Crop Scientist

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and innovative Crop Scientist to lead research and development initiatives at their agricultural research facility located in Richards Bay . This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and analyzing field trials to improve crop yields, quality, and resilience. You will investigate various agronomic practices, crop genetics, and pest management strategies to optimize agricultural productivity in the unique environmental conditions of Kwa Zulu-Natal .

The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the company's mission of advancing sustainable and efficient farming through scientific exploration and practical application, working within a state-of-the-art research environment.

• Design and execute complex field experiments to evaluate crop performance under different conditions and treatments.
• Analyze experimental data using statistical software to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
• Investigate and develop strategies for effective pest, disease, and weed management.
• Conduct research on soil fertility, crop nutrition, and water management practices.
• Collaborate with breeding programs to assess new crop varieties for commercial viability.
• Prepare detailed scientific reports, research papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

• PhD or Master's degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Plant Biology, or a closely related field.
• Extensive experience in designing and conducting field research trials.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis methods and experimental design.
• Proficiency with scientific research tools and techniques relevant to crop science.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills for the role in Richards Bay.
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate research findings into practical agricultural solutions.
