About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the freight and logistics industry, is seeking a highly skilled and dependable Commercial Vehicle Driver for their operations in Richards Bay . This role is essential for ensuring the efficient movement of goods throughout Kwa Zulu-Natal and beyond. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of their assigned vehicle, adherence to delivery schedules, and maintaining a professional image.
This position demands a strong understanding of road safety, effective route management, and the ability to handle the physical demands of loading and unloading. We are looking for a committed individual who values safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service in their driving career.
- Operate commercial trucks and trailers in a safe and legal manner, complying with all DOT and company regulations.
- Transport goods from origin points to destination, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Perform routine inspections of the vehicle and cargo, reporting any discrepancies or issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery details using electronic logging devices or paper logs.
- Secure cargo properly using straps, braces, and other loading equipment to prevent shifting or damage.
- Respond to dispatch instructions and communicate any changes or problems encountered during transit.
- Valid Code 14 driver's license with an active Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience driving commercial vehicles, including long-haul routes if applicable.
- Thorough knowledge of Richards Bay and surrounding regional road networks.
- Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Physical capability to handle the loading and unloading of freight, which may involve heavy items.
- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to meeting delivery deadlines reliably.
