Director of Accounting - Hybrid - Richardson (140k-150k + Bonus)

LHH is seeking a Director of Accounting on behalf of a growing, privately held organization operating in a highly regulated services environment with significant inventory and distribution operations. This company is investing in scalable infrastructure and modern accounting processes and is looking for a hands‑on accounting leader to serve as the right hand to the Controller. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, proven people leadership, and a process‑improvement mindset, along with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Oversee full‑cycle accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and payroll oversight
• Own and continuously improve the month‑end close process, including close calendar management, variance analysis, and collaboration with FP&A
• Review account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
• Partner with the Controller to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, coordinating with external tax advisors as needed
• Provide oversight of treasury‑related activities, including review of bank transfers and wire setups
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and financial reviews, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of audit support
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation to support compliance and scalability
• Lead, mentor, and develop the general ledger accounting team, fostering accountability, engagement, and professional growth
• Drive process improvements, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical solutions across accounting operations
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, communicating financial matters clearly and addressing issues proactively

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred;
  Finance or Economics considered with substantial accounting experience
• MBA, Master’s in Accounting, or CPA designation strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive, full‑cycle accounting experience
• 5+ years of people management or team leadership experience
• Strong hands‑on experience owning month‑end close "soup to nuts," including variance analysis
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control requirements
• Experience working with inventory accounting; healthcare or pharmaceutical industry exposure is a plus but not required
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
• Proven ability to operate with autonomy, manage deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment
