As a construction Assistant Superintendent, you are responsible for assisting in the coordination and supervision of construction projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a combination of knowledge and skills to support the Superintendent and contribute to the successful execution of construction projects.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCommunication:
- Stakeholder Communication:
Knowledge of effective communication practices to provide updates, address inquiries, and maintain stakeholder satisfaction. - Team
Collaboration:
Ability to work collaboratively within a construction team, including the Superintendent, project team, and contractors. - Contractor Relations:
Maintain communication with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to coordinate orders and deliveries.
Scope:
- Site Supervision:
Assist the Superintendent in daily site supervision, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards. - Schedule Management:
Collaborate with the Superintendent to maintain and update project schedules, 3‑week look ahead, tracking progress and milestones. - Contractor Coordination:
Assist in coordinating contractor activities, including scheduling, quality control, and safety. - Site Organization:
Contribute to maintaining an organized and clean construction site, optimizing workflow and safety. - Team Meeting:
Actively participate in any Owner/Architect/Construction Management Agent (OAC), coordination, trade contractor, scheduling, and any other meetings. - Quality Control:
Support quality assurance efforts by conducting inspections, verifying work meets specifications, and addressing deficiencies. - Issue Resolution:
Address project‑related issues and challenges promptly, seeking guidance from the Superintendent and/or Project Manager as needed and keeping them fully informed in a timely fashion regarding any to all problem areas on the project. - Construction Materials:
Familiarity with common construction materials, their properties, and uses. - Construction Equipment:
Knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and their proper usage. - Material and Equipment Management:
Assist in managing the procurement, delivery, and tracking of construction materials and equipment. - Adaptability:
Ability to adapt to changing project needs, handle unexpected challenges, and adjust project plans accordingly. - Documentation:
Aids in the preparation, expediting, and monitoring of documents (reports, schedules, invoices, ASIs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, punch lists, inspections, closeout, and stakeholder presentations). - Report Generation:
Prepare project status reports, updates, and presentations for project managers and stakeholders. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to optimize the procurement process, reduce lead times, and enhance overall efficiency. - Other duties as assigned.

Basic understanding of construction methodologies, processes, and industry best practices. - Blueprint Reading:
Ability to interpret and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications. - Safety Procedures:
Knowledge of safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and adherence to safety guidelines. - Construction Safety:
Understanding of potential construction site hazards, including electrical, fall, and equipment‑related risks. - Collaboration:
