Job Summary
The Naveen Jindal School of Management (JSOM) at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks a talented and versatile Graphic Designer to join its Communications & Marketing team. This role is responsible for creating visually compelling materials that strengthen JSOM's brand, highlight its top national and global rankings (e.g., No. 1 Online MBA by Poets & Quants 2025; No. 2 worldwide in research contributions), and support recruitment, alumni engagement, and the promotion of 35 undergraduate, graduate, PhD, and executive education programs.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Communications & Marketing, the Graphic Designer collaborates closely with staff to deliver high‑impact, on‑brand designs that resonate with JSOM's community of 10,332 students from 71 countries, 57,073 alumni, and global employer partners. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role; must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident to meet USCIS eligibility requirements.
Bachelor's degree in commercial art, design, advertising or related field. Minimum of three years as a graphic designer or production assistant in a design firm, advertising agency, printing plant or similar organization, or equivalent experience and education. Experience designing graphics for ads, brochures, publications, billboards and invitations.
PreferredEducation and Experience
- Experience designing for business schools or higher education institutions.
- Working knowledge of web design fundamentals, including Figma, basic HTML/CSS, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Experience with motion graphics or light video editing using tools such as After Effects and Premiere Pro.
- Familiarity with data‑informed design practices, including A/B testing and performance‑based visual optimization.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office, with advanced PowerPoint skills.
- A strong online portfolio demonstrating clean, modern branding work across print, digital, and social media, including template development and brand system experience.
- Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, small‑team environment.
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Graphic Design (Primary Focus)- Design high‑quality print and digital assets, including brochures, banners, social media graphics, email templates, website elements, advertisements, and promotional materials.
- Develop and maintain branded visual assets and iconography aligned with JSOM's academic areas (Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations/Supply Chain Management, and Organizations, Strategy, and International Management).
- Create reusable templates (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, social media toolkits, email headers, one‑pagers) to enable the team to efficiently produce consistent, professional materials.
- Design recruitment and fundraising collateral, including program overviews, annual impact reports highlighting $10M+ in community impact, ranking announcements, research highlights, and alumni success stories.
- Produce layouts and visual designs for the JSOM magazine, research publications, academic and professional certificates, and center‑ or program‑specific initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support visual strategy for campaigns, ensuring designs are optimized for specific platforms and target audiences (e.g., Linked In for executive audiences, Instagram for prospective undergraduate students).
- Serve as a proactive and collaborative team member, consistently adhering to university brand guidelines, policies, and procedures.
