Celestica is seeking a Lead, Manufacturing Process Engineer to optimize production efficiency, quality, and reliability for our complex electronic systems. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in process engineering within the electronics manufacturing space, with expertise in developing and sustaining processes for advanced liquid cooling integration and high-level data center rack assembly. The Lead, Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Process Development & Ownership: Design, develop, document, and deploy robust manufacturing processes and procedures for complex electromechanical assembly, focusing heavily on specialized liquid cooling and rack integration (L11+).
- DFM/DFA: Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, collaborating with Design Engineering to optimize product designs for high-volume production.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical issues on the production floor, performing root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing permanent corrective actions (PCAs) using methodologies like 8D.
- Liquid Cooling Specialization: Develop and standardize specific manufacturing processes for liquid cooling components (e.g., cold plate attachment, CDU integration, fluid filling, leak detection, and pressure testing) ensuring compliance with customer specifications and reliability standards.
- Tooling & Equipment: Procure and qualify new manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling to enhance line efficiency and reduce manual assembly variation.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives within the process engineering function, driving projects to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and lower manufacturing costs.
- Project Leadership: Lead small to mid-sized engineering projects related to process enhancements or new product line qualifications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Training & Mentoring: Create and deliver training materials and support to Production Supervisors and Technicians regarding new processes and equipment, and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
- 4 to 6 years of direct experience as a Manufacturing, Process, or Production Engineer within the electronics or high-tech system integration industry.
- Proven experience in a complex system assembly environment. Mandatory expertise in manufacturing processes for liquid cooling technology and data center rack assembly (L11+).
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) for fixture/tooling design. Expertise in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and statistical process control (SPC).
- Strong understanding of electronic assembly processes, mechanical fabrication, and high-level system integration principles. Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, drive cross-functional alignment, and provide mentorship to technical peers and junior team members.
- Work Environment: Primarily performed in a manufacturing environment, requiring frequent time spent on the production floor to observe processes and troubleshoot issues. Occasional exposure to noise and machinery is expected.
- Physical Demands: Requires walking, standing, and the ability to interact directly with equipment and assembly stations. Periodic sustained visual concentration on detailed data and components.
- Travel: Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for supplier visits, customer technical reviews, or collaboration with other Celestica sites.
- 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
- Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational Requirements may vary by Geography.
