The Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is looking for a Mid‑Level Systems Engineer to join the Special Project Dallas (SPD) P‑8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) systems engineering team in Richardson, TX. As an integral member of the Systems Engineering organization, you will work with an integrated team to analyze reliability and system‑health data across the AAS program life cycle (development, production, and sustainment).
This position will also be responsible for managing projects and providing engineering support and oversight to suppliers and for working with logistics on disposition of non‑conformance issues.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently in a challenging, fast‑paced environment. This position requires a lot of collaboration with other teams and the customer; strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Position Responsibilities- Work on an integrated team of software, hardware, and systems engineers to develop, troubleshoot, and test new and existing AAS products.
- Lead reliability, maintainability, and system‑health analyses across development, production, and sustainment phases. Represent Boeing and engage regularly with customers at Failure Review Board meetings.
- Produce and deliver customer‑grade data packages, including Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) reports.
- Evaluate and effectively communicate system problems and resolutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with suppliers, customers, stakeholders, and peers.
- Work with customers to identify product technical requirements and build plans to support their needs.
- Perform requirements maintenance and mapping activities, and maintain situational awareness of system‑level requirements compliance.
- Support development of customer proposals, including development of competitive pricing and delivery dates.
- Support Basis of Estimate (BOE) development, work proposals, and participate in contract negotiations and statement of work (SOW) revisions.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
- 3+ years of experience working with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and interfacing directly with the customer.
- Practical experience applying systems engineering principles (requirements development, system design, and trade study/analysis).
- Proven experience performing failure analysis and identifying root causes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and customer/supplier engagement.
- Active Top Secret Clearance.
- 5+ years of experience working in an engineering environment.
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering (e.g., system or software requirements, architecture design, system development, and/or system test).
- Experience with Reliability, Maintainability & System Health (RM&SH) engineering: requirements, reliability predictions, and performance assessment.
- Hands‑on experience with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS).
- Familiarity with qualification and environmental testing requirements for airborne systems.
- Knowledge of parts, materials, and processes for electronic and mechanical structures. Experience with reliability engineering tools (e.g., Reliability Workbench, GOLD).
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active. Security clearance and other government access requirements are mandatory.
