The Senior Financial Analyst ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial data in People Soft Financials and prepares a wide range of financial reports, transactions, and complex analyses. This position provides comprehensive financial oversight for the Bass School, including managing a substantial budget, monitoring spending trends, and maintaining in-depth knowledge of institutional policies and governance requirements.
Minimum Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related area.
- 3-5 years experience working with People Soft or other complex ERP Accounting Systems.
- 5-7 years progressively responsible related financial/accounting/budgeting experience.
- 1-3 years capital accounting and/or budgeting experience.
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Education and Experience
Masters degree in a related area is preferred.
Other QualificationsTo the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Financial Analyst performs precise monthly reconciliation of all funds—down to the cent—and provides projections, variance explanations, and strategic insights to support sound decision‑making. Serving as the right hand to the Director of Finance & Administration, this role also supervises administrative staff, exercises strong judgment in managing high‑volume processes, and ensures operational efficiency within the department.
Additional responsibilities include managing all One Card activity for the division, overseeing internal and external grants, and ensuring full compliance with school and university policies. The Senior Financial Analyst acts as the subject‑matter expert for card usage, documentation standards, audit preparedness, and policy interpretation, and provides training to cardholders and department staff on procedures, expense coding, and compliance expectations. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for communicating annual funding to faculty, and serving as a point of contact.
