About

The Role

As a CBRE Software Engineer Principal, you will develop, maintain, and enhance client systems, as well as evaluate, design, and develop new features.

This job is part of the Software Engineering job function. They are responsible for successfully executing and monitoring system improvements to increase efficiency.

What You'll Do
  • Administer Snowflake and data tools (ELT and Data transformation tools) to ensure optimal configuration, security, and performance across environments.
  • Evaluate emerging data technologies, perform proof of concepts (PoC), and enable enterprise-level adoption when appropriate.
  • Good knowledge of knowledge graph tools to enhance data relationships, semantic modeling, and enterprise data connectivity.
  • Drive robust design and maintainability standards as part of a CoE team, defining patterns, frameworks, and best practices for scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions.
  • Optimize Snowflake performance by tuning storage, compute resources, and query execution for improved speed and cost efficiency.
  • Develop advanced data processing solutions using Python, including data frames (e.g., Pandas), APIs, and libraries to enable automation, integration, and custom transformations across diverse data sources.
  • Collaborate with business units, segments, and LOB teams to understand requirements, assess platform fitment, and onboard them to Snowflake and ETL solutions. Provide ongoing enablement and support to ensure consistent standards, patterns, and best practices for optimal platform utilization across the enterprise.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in Snowflake-based ETL/ELT workflows designed by teams using the platform.
  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Explore and integrate Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities into data workflows and enterprise solutions to enhance automation, insights, and advanced analytics.
What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 10-15 years of relevant experience in data engineering or software development. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Strong experience (4+ years) working in Snowflake.
  • Multi-dimensional, conceptual, and innovative thinking to develop new solutions.
  • Ability to identify and solve the most complex problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Expert organizational skills with an unrivaled inquisitive mindset.
