Mainframe Architect

Infosys is seeking a Mainframe Architect who will interface with key stakeholders and apply technical proficiency across all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle. Responsibilities include requirements elicitation, application architecture definition and design, creation of high‑level design artifacts, delivery of high‑quality code deliverables, lead validation for testing, support activities related to implementation, transition and warranty, and participation in a learning culture that values teamwork, collaboration, excellence and diversity.

Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Richardson, TX or be willing to relocate. This position may require travel to project locations.

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Three years of progressive experience in the specialty may be considered in lieu of one year of education.

• Assist the Tier 2 Support team as needed: analyze and respond to end‑user or Tier 1/Tier 2 developer questions and tickets;
• Administer user access to specific batch flows or applications (as necessary);
• Provide routine system and job stream maintenance;
• Maintain system interfaces between different subsystems;
• Ensure nightly and weekly cycles complete successfully;
• Remediate system overload issues, long‑running jobs, or SQL degradation.

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience supporting applications on IBM z/OS and leading a team of developers;
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in PL/I or COBOL development;
• Strong experience with JCL, PROCs, REXX, CLIST, ISPF, and SDSF;
• Solid understanding of DB2 static SQL, precompile, bind, package/plan management;
• Experience with IMS (DB + DC), including PSB/DBD/ACB generation flows;
• Prior experience with Endevor or similar mainframe source/version management tools;
• Ability to analyze load modules, compare source‑to‑load behavior, and reverse‑engineer logic when source is unavailable.

• Experience with telecom OSS / Telecom systems;
• Experience with SAS on z/OS (report generation, batch execution);
• Experience with dump‑reading tools (Abend‑Aid, Fault Analyzer);
• Experience in a high‑availability, 24/7 operational environment;
• Experience integrating applications across IMS, DB2, and distributed platforms;
• Familiarity with NDM/Connect:
  
  Direct, MQ, SFTP on mainframe;
• Experience with ZLinux or z/OS UNIX System Services.

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. The candidate should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face‑to‑face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
