Job Summary

The Undergraduate Student Outcomes Data Analyst supports JSOM's institutional goal to enhance undergraduate student success through the strategic use of data. This position plays a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insight by building automated data pipelines, integrating multiple campus systems, and developing interactive dashboards that support real-time decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a technically skilled problem-solver with strong analytical and communication abilities, capable of bridging data engineering and institutional strategy to improve retention and graduation outcomes.

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Psychology, Data Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics or other related field
• Three (3) or more years of experience maintaining data compilation, screening, validation and analysis utilizing a variety of software programs and integrating data from multiple institutional and external sources
• One (1) year experience cleaning and analyzing survey data using statistical software (SAS, R, STATA, SPSS, or an equivalent) and working with online survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, RedCAP)
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Master's degree in a related discipline.
• Experience working in higher education, institutional research, or student success analytics.
• Familiarity with data governance, predictive modeling, or machine learning applications.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) information from multiple university systems.
• Integrate datasets from sources such as student information systems, advising platforms, and engagement tools.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all data processes.

• Design and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to monitor key undergraduate outcomes.
• Write efficient SQL queries and use Python or R scripts for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Generate real-time, self-service analytics for leadership and program teams.
• Partner with academic departments and student services teams to identify at‑risk populations and recommend data‑informed interventions.
• Support the Associate/Assistant Dean in analyzing trends related to retention, persistence, and graduation.
• Present findings and insights in a clear, accessible format for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

• Maintain rigorous data validation and documentation practices to ensure institutional data integrity.
• Adhere to university and FERPA guidelines regarding data privacy and security.
