Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead projects at the intersection of membrane biology and neurodegeneration. This position provides an exciting opportunity to investigate how organellar dysfunction contributes to neuro‑degenerative diseases, using state‑of‑the‑art approaches in neuronal cell biology and quantitative membrane biophysics. To ensure a strong fit for the role, candidates with the following skills and experience are especially encouraged to apply:
- Cloning, including lentiviral construct design and generation
- CRISPR/Cas9‑based genetic manipulation
- Differentiation of iPSCs into neuronal cell types
- Genetic manipulation, immunofluorescence, and live‑cell imaging of differentiated neurons
- Experience handling primary cultures (neurons, glia, or microglia from animal brains)
- Contribute to the final stages of lab setup and organization
- Assist with ordering and maintaining lab infrastructure
- Coordinate common reagent purchases with lab members
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate trainees as needed
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIndependently design and execute experiments using advanced cell culture systems (e.g., primary neurons, iPSC‑derived neurons).
- Establish and optimize key protocols while mentoring junior trainees
- Contribute to manuscripts, grant proposals, and conference presentations
- Coordinate collaborations and maintain regular communication with the PI and external research partners
