Business Development Manager--
Autonomous Mower Retrofit Systems
Location:Dallas / Richardson, Texas
Work Arrangement:Primarily office-based, with regular dealer and customer visits and limited travel as needed
Company:MacBOT Inc.
MacBOT is developing an autonomous retrofit system designed to convert commercial mowing equipment into autonomous machines.
As our product moves from technical validation into commercial validation, we are looking for a Business Development & Commercialization Manager
to help build the business from the ground up.
This is not a traditional sales role focused only on closing deals. The person will work closely with dealers, commercial landscapers, customers, engineering, product, and marketing teams to help identify the right market opportunities, validate customer demand, develop early sales opportunities, and improve the product based on real-world feedback.
The goal is to help turn a promising product into a scalable commercial business.
Key Responsibilities- Business Development
- Identify the most promising customer segments, applications, and business opportunities for the autonomous mower retrofit system.
- Develop and maintain relationships with commercial mower dealers, commercial landscapers, and other potential customers or channel partners.
- Understand customer needs, pricing expectations, purchase barriers, and dealer requirements, and provide input on business model and go-to-market strategy.
- Build a strong pipeline of early adopters and convert qualified prospects into pre-orders and future customers.
- Product Feedback
- Collect and organize feedback from dealers, customers, demonstrations, and field tests.
- Identify key customer requirements, Must-Have features, and major purchase blockers.
- Communicate market feedback to the product and engineering teams to support product improvement and commercial readiness.
Because timing is important at this stage of the business, we are looking for someone who can contribute quickly and already has strong experience and relationships in the commercial mower market.
The ideal candidate should have:- 5+ years of business development, sales, dealer development, or account management experience in the commercial lawn mower or outdoor power equipment industry, with strong knowledge of major equipment brands, dealer channels, distribution models, dealer margins, service expectations, purchasing behavior, and the needs of professional landscapers and commercial operators.
- An established network and existing relationships with commercial mower dealers, commercial landscapers, fleet operators, or equipment distributors.
- Proven experience developing new customer relationships, managing sales opportunities, and converting prospects into orders or long-term accounts.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work effectively with business owners, dealers, sales teams, operators, and internal engineering teams.
- Comfortable working independently and moving quickly in an early‑stage business where the product, pricing, sales process, and business model are still being refined, while turning market feedback into clear business recommendations.
- Willingness to visit dealers and customer sites in the Dallas area and travel as needed for business development and market validation.
The following experience would be a strong advantage:
- Experience with autonomous equipment, robotics, or emerging equipment technologies.
- Experience introducing new products or new technology into an established dealer or commercial customer market.
- Base Salary:$100,000–$110,000
- Target Incentive:$20,000–$25,000
- Target Cash Compensation:$120,000–$135,000
- Business Travel:Reimbursed
- Vehicle Allowance:Considered if regular local customer visits are required
This is an opportunity to play a key role in bringing a new autonomous commercial mowing technology to market.
Rather than joining an established sales organization and following an existing playbook, you will help shape the playbook — working directly with customers, dealers, engineers, and company leadership to influence the product, business model, and go-to-market strategy.
