Baseball Skills Trainers works hand-in-hand with youth with the planning/execution of a wide range of activities. These activities include specialized camps and clinics for youths aged 5-12. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing a variety of training programs that are both educational and motivational for clients. Additionally, the incumbent provides customer service which promotes member wellness in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment.

Functions
  • Lead instructional skills camps for youth aged 5-12 in the fundamentals of baseball.
  • Develop, implement and instruct a variety of baseball skills training sessions for clients. Provide encouragement and expertise for the client in support of their health, well-being and stated goals.
  • Administer, track and evaluate skills assessments and modify program based on skill level of participants.
  • Adhere to all guidelines and expectations as outlined in the YMCA Employee Handbook which includes, but is not limited to, providing safe sessions and responding to and reporting any incidents.
  • Maintain required YMCA training and compliance standards.
Qualifications Required
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid, New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Training (Online) & Sexual Harassment Training (Online).

    Demonstrated customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an individual/group and motivate others to achieve their goals.
  • Demonstrated ability working with all age groups and ability levels.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • General knowledge of baseball hitting, pitching, and fundamentals and ability to demonstrate proper technique.
Preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in playing baseball at a high school and/or college level.
  • 1 year experience coaching youth baseball.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lead sessions, demonstrating baseball techniques and performing associated physical activities (hitting, throwing, pitching, base running, fielding, etc).
