The position is responsible for the transport of solid waste from a Transfer Station to the landfill following a designated route. The driver is responsible for the safe operation, care, and appearance of the assigned vehicle.

• Transport solid waste to designated site.
• Monitor condition of mechanical equipment and notify appropriate shop personnel of needed repairs or any operational problems.
• Observe all safety guidelines and policies as initiated by the NTMWD.
• Maintain thorough and complete process records and logs.
• May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations as directed by supervisor.

• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of tools (screwdriver, wrench, etc.) and how to use them.
• Requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License and a good driving record.
• Minimum of three years prior experience operating Class A CDL vehicles.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Work conditions primarily include outdoor activities but may vary from indoor to outdoor. Outdoor activities may involve exposure to odor, hot, cold, dusty, dirty, and/or noisy conditions. Activities may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, picking up trash, pushing, pulling, carrying, and dragging up to 75 pounds of equipment. Work may vary depending on task requirements.
