Overview
The Extension Coordinator provides leadership for the Utah State University Extension 4-H Youth Development program in Sevier County. The coordinator strengthens the 4-H Machine by focusing on the following areas:
- Muscle: Recruit and support 4-H volunteers who organize and sustain 4-H clubs and programs.
- Members: Recruit and support youth to experience the full 4-H Pathway of Explore, Learn, Practice, and Experience.
- Money: Work with Extension faculty and community partners to secure external funding through grants, donations, and sponsor ships.
- Meaning: Assist in data collection, storytelling, and evaluation to measure the impact and value of the 4-H program.
The coordinator builds connections among youth, volunteers, schools, and community organizations to ensure that every young person in Sevier County has opportunities to belong, master new skills, and contribute through 4-H. This is a full-time position with benefits based in Richfield, Utah.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and Lead the Sevier County 4-H Team:
Facilitate county 4-H meetings, build collaborative work plans, and communicate regularly with the Sevier County Director and Utah State University Extension leadership. - Recruit and Support 4-H Volunteers (Muscle):
Identify, orient, and mentor volunteers who lead clubs, events, and projects in all 4-H areas including agriculture, animal science, horse, STEM, healthy living, creative arts, leadership, and civic engagement. - Recruit and Support Youth Participants (Members):
Promote the 4-H Experience Pathway and connect youth to opportunities to Explore, Learn, Practice, and Experience across multiple program areas. - Collaborate for Funding (Money):
Work with Extension faculty and community partners to secure external funding through grants, sponsor ships, and donations to sustain and expand programs. - Measure Impact (Meaning):
Collect stories, data, and evaluation results to demonstrate outcomes and communicate the impact of the 4-H program. - Implement the Utah 4-H iSEE Outreach Program:
Within the first 18 months of employment, oversee implementation of Utah 4-H iSEE outreach activities in partnership with schools and community educators. - Promote and Facilitate 4-H Opportunities:
Market and support participation in regional and state 4-H events, contests, and leadership experiences. - Coordinate Recognition and County Events:
Lead planning for the annual 4-H Awards and Recognition Event and coordinate the 4-H section of the Sevier County Fair. - Support Teen and Volunteer Leadership:
Guide 4-H Teen Leaders and adult volunteers in developing leadership, mentoring, and civic engagement skills. - Ensure Civil Rights Compliance:
Use inclusive approaches to reach underserved and diverse audiences in alignment with Utah State University Extension policy. - Collaborate with County Partners:
Work with the Sevier County Fair Administration, Junior Livestock Board, schools, and civic organizations to strengthen youth programs. - Other Duties:
Support additional responsibilities as assigned by the Sevier County Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years' experience in Education, Human Development, Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture, or related field, or four years of related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
- Strong communication and teaching skills with youth and adults.
- Budget and fiscal management experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 4-H or other youth-serving organizations.
- Familiarity with the Land-Grant University and Extension system.
- Bilingual (Spanish/En lish) preferred.
- Experience with grants or sponsorship development.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse and underserved audiences.
