Sales Assistant – Field Support (Specialty Flooring Equipment) – Puckett Rents, Jackson (Richland)

Join Puckett Machinery Company, a leading Caterpillar® dealer in central and southern Mississippi, as a Sales Assistant – Field Support in our Specialty Flooring Equipment division. In this role you will support our territory sales representatives by generating revenue, negotiating contracts, conducting field demonstrations, and ensuring smooth delivery and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Generate quotes, proposals, and pricing for rental and sales opportunities.
  • Negotiate rental agreements, terms, and equipment packages with the territory sales representative.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including prospecting and cold outreach.
  • Assist in securing signed contracts, customer purchase orders, and rental agreements.
  • Conduct on‑site customer visits to evaluate needs, recommend solutions, and advance deals toward closing.
  • Support sales representatives by managing follow‑up communication, account updates, and opportunity tracking.
  • Conduct professional sales demonstrations of floor scrubbers, sweepers, and specialty flooring equipment.
  • Partner with sales leadership to develop targeted account plans and growth strategies.
Customer Interaction & Field Support
  • Participate in on‑site walkthroughs, facility assessments, and pre‑sale inspections.
  • Coordinate with operations to schedule deliveries, pickups, and demo‑ready equipment.
  • Provide a customer‑focused demo experience explaining product value and ROI.
  • Maintain communication with customers throughout the sales cycle.
Administrative & Sales Support
  • Maintain accurate CRM notes, pipeline updates, and opportunity statuses.
  • Prepare presentations and assist with bid responses or proposal packages.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong sales aptitude with clarity in persuasion, negotiation, and closing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Customer‑first mindset and strong relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to understand equipment capabilities and applications.
  • High initiative and the ability to work independently in the field.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; prior relevant sales experience may substitute for education.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Experience pulling a trailer or hauling equipment.
  • Prior sales or customer‑facing equipment experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25–50 lbs. occasionally for demonstrations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction equipment, material handling, or industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Previous rental, delivery, or customer‑facing equipment experience.
  • Ability to conduct basic functional demos of equipment.
DOT & Driving Requirements
  • Must meet DOT medical card requirements.
  • Must meet company MVR standards.
  • Ability to tow and maneuver small trailers with equipment.
  • Ability to load/unload equipment using ramps, winches, and proper securement practices.
  • Comfortable with daily regional travel.

  • Position requires daily regional travel in a company‑provided vehicle.
  • Compensation structure:
    Salary + Commission (Outside Sales Exempt).
