R1973* ### ESSENTIAL TASKS
* The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
** Answers the telephone and greets office visitors; provides professional, courteous customer service and clerical support to assist customers or obtain information for customers as requested.
* Performs other general clerical work, including but not limited to maintaining logs and lists, copying and filling documents, sending and receiving faxes, entering and retrieving computer data, processing daily mail.
* Maintains contact with field personnel as necessary to dispatch information.
* Facilitates communication across all division units to ensure effective and efficient exchange of information.
* Prepares and maintains accurate and up-to-date customer records.
* Issues work orders to appropriate maintenance staff via established protocol.
* Enters/retrieves department records, customer records and other information into/from computer or physical file record-keeping systems.
* Prepares, types, copies, files and/or transmits various letters, memoranda, notices, reports, requisitions, etc.
* Assists customers via in-person, email, and phone requests to establish or stop utility service, look up or pay bills, and take payments.
* Receives, receipts and tracks sewer tap fees from customers.
* Receives and responds to employee/public inquiries, concerns and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
* Attends staff, County, informational, and education meetings as required.
* Attends training, conferences, workshops, meetings, etc., to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.## ## INVOLVEMENT WITH DATA, PEOPLE, AND THINGS
** DATA INVOLVEMENT:
** Requires summarizing, tabulating or formatting data or information in accordance with a prescribed schema or plan to facilitate the identification and extraction of useful information.
** PEOPLE INVOLVEMENT**:### Requires giving information, guidance or assistance to people to directly facilitate task accomplishment; may give directions or assignments to helpers or assistants.
** INVOLVEMENT WITH THINGS:
** Requires handling or using machines, tools or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, fax machines, copiers, telephones or similar equipment; may service office machines, including adding paper and changing toner.
** REASONING REQUIREMENTS:
** Requires performing semi-routine work following procedures with occasional problems.
** MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS:
** Requires using addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and/or calculating ratios, rates and percentages.
** LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
** Requires reading technical instructions, procedures, manuals and charts to solve practical problems; composing routine reports and specialized reports, forms and business letters with proper format; speaking compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
** MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
** Requires doing clerical, manual or technical tasks prescribed by standard practices, but which may require computation, the use of several procedures, and the use of independent judgments with obvious choices; requires normal attention for accurate results.
** VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:
** Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.
** SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
** Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
** EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
** Requires over six months and up to and including one year of customer service related experience.
