At PNNL, our core capabilities are divided among major departments that we refer to as Directorates within the Lab, focused on a specific area of scientific research or other function, with its own leadership team and dedicated budget. Our Science & Technology directorates include National Security, Integrated Discovery Sciences, and Energy and Environment. In addition, we have an Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, a Department of Energy, Office of Science user facility housed on the PNNL campus.
The Business Services Directorate (BSD) provides crucial financial, procurement and sales, and project management services to PNNL, as required under our management and operations contract for operating the Lab on behalf of the Department of Energy. Our goal in offering these services is to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant business operations that enhance PNNL's scientific impact. PNNL is seeking a qualified individual to serve in an internship for the Business-to-Business (B2B) program at PNNL.
- Assist with Business-to-Business vendor and user communications and inquiries
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting and marketplace catalog reviews
- Assist with system testing
- Assist the B2B Program Specialist and administrative staff with various B2B program related tasks/special projects
- Interface with vendors and Battelle staff and management as needed to successfully complete work activities
This internship position will be for up to one-year with potential for extension. Preferred work schedule for this position will be 20+ hours/week throughout the academic school year and may be up to 40 hours/week during summer break. Reduced work schedule hours during academic school year as needed. Work requires on PNNL campus site presence.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a high school diploma /GED or higher
- Candidates must be degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university
- Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50
- Demonstrated ability to work with business systems and communicate effectively with vendors, staff, and management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Capable computer skills:
Windows, Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and networking technologies software. Working knowledge of standard office equipment. - Excellent customer service skills including excellent verbal and written communications to enable effective interaction with all levels of personnel management.
