General SummaryThrough mastery of skills and extensive subject‑matter knowledge, this role conducts the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of Columbia Generating Station (CGS) licensed operations training programs in accordance with the CGS Systematic Approach to Training model and applicable plant procedures. The candidate drives station and personnel performance improvement through the use of training, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and supporting continued accreditation by the National Academy of Nuclear Training.
The role maintains knowledge of plant operations, disciplinary skills, and techniques, commensurate with the responsibility to develop and conduct effective, high‑quality training.
- Implement Operations Training Programs by providing technical instruction utilizing approved training materials and applying appropriate learning strategies in classroom, plant, and simulator training settings.
- Administer written tests to measure achievement of training lesson learning objectives.
- Monitor student performance by analyzing and interpreting test data, performing student remediation, and providing appropriate counseling.
- Prepare and transmit auditable training records to the designed repository in a timely manner.
- Ensure line organization training needs are met and records of training and qualification are available to line management/supervision.
- Establish instructor credibility by responding verbally and non‑verbally to trainee feedback using tools such as questions, body language, etc., adapting to group, individual, content, and setting.
- Use communication strategy that maximizes learner understanding and accomplishment of skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate effective presentation skills, including organization of content, verbal and body language, gestures, movement, eye contact, and use of time.
- Present instruction using a variety of instructional methods: lecture, facilitated group activities, discussion, individual activities, group practice, hand‑on demonstrations, on‑the‑job, and simulator exercises.
- Determine the extent to which learners have achieved stated learning objectives and identify unexpected outcomes.
- Assess learner participation in activities and discussion; monitor performance during practice, discussion, and exercises; and assess final performance at the end of instruction.
- Develop and maintain operations training programs by performing needs analysis, job analysis, and task analysis.
- Design and develop new training materials based on analysis to assure content meets participants’ needs.
- Revise training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on feedback, performance, industry standards, plant procedure changes, and instructional experience.
- Ensure training programs comply with applicable requirements and meet participant needs.
- Review, interpret, and integrate applicable regulations, INPO Training Guidelines, licensing requirements, FSAR commitments, and corporate policies/directives into training programs.
- Perform instructional and technical reviews of new and revised training materials.
- Synthesize information from analysis to establish learning objectives, test items, lesson, and program design.
- Analyze data from expert reviews to determine appropriate revisions or modifications.
- Perform Simulator Instructor duties by accurately evaluating performance and effectiveness of crew and individuals.
- Provide total task accomplishment through attention to detail and review of documented activities.
- Use effective interpersonal teamwork and diagnostic skills as a member of the instruction/evaluation simulator team.
- Demonstrate and promote effective communication, using verbal and non‑verbal methods.
