Job Description
:
Richland Community College is seeking part-time tutors for our Academic Success Center on campus. Tutors needed for our on campus Academic Success Center will be helping students with the following subject areas:
English, Math, Reading, Biology, Economics, Physics, and Nursing. The hours and days for these tutor positions will vary.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in math, reading, writing, biology, chemistry, or other specified academic area of expertise.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with individuals of various abilities, ages, and needs.
• Math tutors must have taken college-level Calculus I (or higher) and passed with a grade of C or better.
• Provides and prioritizes in-person and/or online professional tutoring in academic area of expertise for Richland Community College students to promote retention and success.
• While working in the tutoring center, maintains a quiet atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Completes appropriate work accomplished documentation and required trainings.
• Uses college-approved systems and tools such as Zoom to provide online tutoring services.
• Content knowledge in area of expertise and any other requirements corresponding to course knowledge needed for a specific subject.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Classroom instruction and/or tutoring experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Operates teaching and learning aids used in the tutoring session.
• Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information effectively.
• Spends prolonged periods of time standing or sitting when working with individual students or in a group setting.
• Relate in a positive manner to all students.
