Schedule- Eligible for telework and flexible schedule options.
- Minimum one day every two weeks required in the office plus any in-person meetings, inspections, training, field work, travel, or tasks that cannot be performed remotely.

Serve as an Environmental Engineer for Hanford site‑wide Air Operating Permit and Notice of Construction (NOC) approval orders. Provide professional engineering expertise to review and evaluate permits, negotiate and prepare permit materials, and recommend enforcement actions. Ensure implementation of state and federal air quality, dangerous waste, and CERCLA regulations.
What You Will Do- Perform professional engineering review of technical documents supporting air permits and compliance with air permits.
- Conduct air compliance inspections, prepare inspection reports, and recommend enforcement actions.
- Communicate and apply state and federal engineering requirements for permitting and cleanup.
- Participate in project development, project team meetings, and internal/external group processes.
- Review documents, reports, and permit applications for compliance with applicable state and federal air requirements; develop and negotiate permit requirements.
- Represent the agency on Hanford cleanup issues through public presentations, technical meetings, partner meetings, negotiations, and consultations.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington or an equivalent state, AND
- Three (3) years of environmental engineering experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Must meet U.S. Department of Energy requirements to acquire and maintain a Hanford Site access badge.
- Complete initial 40‑hour HAZWOPER training within six months of appointment and complete annual 8‑hour refresher. Must meet physical activity requirements.
- For PE license from another state, obtain Washington State PE license by comity within six months of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to perform environmental engineering reviews of plans and specifications, site plans, dangerous waste, water, and air permits, and CERCLA and MTCA remedial documents.
