Overview

Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Engineer opportunity in Richland, WA to support the Hanford Site
.

Major duties and responsibilities include support for nuclear safety documentation, review of documents, interfacing with Company staff and subcontract staff, preparation of nuclear safety deliverables, and providing senior nuclear safety support to Company plant operations.

Responsibilities
  • Support Company nuclear safety activities associated with developing, implementing, interpreting, and enforcing Company facility Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR).
  • Prepare, review, and verify implementation of Nuclear Safety Basis, DSA and TSR documents and requirements.
  • Resolve Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) determinations (USQD) issues.
  • Provide factual accuracy review of Safety Evaluation Reports (SERs).
  • Conduct nuclear safety-related assessments and/or walk-throughs.
  • Support DOE orders and regulations compliance, including Company implementation of USQ guidance.
  • Assist in routine and ad-hoc reviews, assessments, and oversight walk-downs of nuclear safety program adequacy, implementation, and compliance verification/oversight activities.
  • Provide USQ screenings, USQ determinations, and/or application of USQ categorical exclusions for work control documents and related changes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (education equivalency: two years of experience for one year of education).
  • Minimum of 15 years in the nuclear safety industry, with at least eight (8) years directly related to the required area of expertise as a nuclear safety engineer as defined under 10 CFR 830.
  • Related experience performing the tasks described in the duties and responsibilities listed.
