Position: Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 1 -- Nuclear

This I&C position offers the opportunity to upgrade and modernize nuclear power plants with the latest control technologies. You will lead and support small and large controls projects, providing technical execution and effective project management while coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Develop digital systems design for PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
  • Prepare control‑system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant control systems.
  • Interface with clients to ensure proper project execution and satisfaction.
  • Produce, review, and present technical reports, calculations, and studies to meet client requirements.
  • Manage resources and develop task estimates, contributing to budget development.
  • Support proposal development.
  • Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.
  • Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
  • Interface with vendors for document reviews, equipment compliance checks, and FAT performance.
  • Support project implementation at client facilities.
Qualifications

Essential Skills And Experience
  • BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 10+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls system design in a project team environment for commercial or industrial applications.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of available equipment and pre‑engineered systems for system execution.
  • Experience serving as the firm’s client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Proficiency in reviewing design documentation.
