Position Type: Full‑time (Exempt W2) with no overtime pay.

Location: Richland, Washington (Pacific Northwest Region; may alternate with Remote). Work will be performed at the Hanford Field Office.

Provide scientific research and evaluation services as a Glass Scientist supporting the Tank Waste and Waste Treatment program under Assignment Mission:
Pacific Northwest Region for DOE Environmental Management.

• Perform laboratory testing, analyze results, and develop models for DOE waste processing.
• Author technical reports and environmental compliance documentation.
• Engage in research to ensure scientific principles guide engineering input for glass production methodologies.
• Support programmatic technical and project‑control functions within the Tank Waste & Treatment Department.
• Develop DOE waste form validation test plans.
• Travel as required for technical coordination and approved by the Contracting Officer.
• Maintain required security clearances (Facility Clearance, DOE Clearance as needed).

• 8–12+ years of glass/materials science experience; DOE waste program exposure preferred.
• MS or PhD in Materials/Chemical Engineering (or related).
• Strong knowledge of materials testing, statistical analysis, and technical reporting.
• Excellent scientific rigor, creativity, and communication skills.
• Experience with project management support in a technical environment.
