Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges,our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Job Summary:In this role you will follow procedures and work with mentors to develop standard engineering deliverables such as calculations, piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), and material requisitions. You will meet with your lead prior to starting activities to discuss approach, process, schedule, and other expectations. As your experience and confidence grow, you will be given tasks with greater responsibility with less oversight.
Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team.
Part-Time Telework:
This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

- Preparing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for complex mechanical equipment for the waste treatment process and supporting systems.
- Interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines in the development of the design.
- Knowledge of industry, and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule.
- Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
- Participates in the design, development,modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures(EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedure sand criteria utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records
- Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
- Provides direct support to other engineering disciplines for mechanical related matters
- Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs,reports, or proposals
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standardmechanicalengineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
- Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions,the customer, and regulatory agency personnel inthe resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
