Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (day shift) or 5:30 pm to 4:00 am (night shift), subject to change. The project may require employees to work weekends, overtime, holidays, and/or night shift as business needs arise.
Job Summary:Supports the project by participating in internal and external cost and schedule reviews, performing cost tracking and reconciliation. In addition, this position may support long range planning efforts along with support to dedicated integrated project teams. #LI-TN1
Major Responsibilities:- Provides comments and recommendations for scheduling requirements related to staffing and project controls
- Defines project needs for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures.
- Manages and evaluates discipline specific workload and detailed staffing plans for cost engineering, planning, and scheduling activities.
- Creates and implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies improvements.
- Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, schedule, and cost data.
- Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations.
- Identifies trends and supports the overall cost trend program, including development of trends as required. Reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
- Interfaces with designated Bechtel management and client counterparts for cost, planning, and schedule. Prepares and presents cost engineering and scheduling information to management/client.
- Supervises and provides coaching on the timely preparation of cost estimates, cost reports, schedules, performance of cost and schedule control and planning activities.
- Conducts personnel performance reviews.
