Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that utility and process systems are designed to required codes and standards and established design criteria. You will assist with delivering challenging design basis documents such as calculations, drawings, and reports, as well as developing required procurement documents such as specifications and material requisitions that will be used in the equipment procurement process.

Your leadership will look to you to provide guidance to junior engineers and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges while still ensuring that the unique and complex requirements of the task are met. Additionally, you will provide input to help track the progress of deliverables to ensure that they meet schedule requirements and support leadership with input to trends.

Part-Time Telework:
This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

• Designing the fluid and gas systems in the WTP process facilities.
• Responsible for assisting with discipline work process execution in a technically adequate manner and in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
• Preparing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for complex mechanical equipment for the waste treatment process and supporting systems.
• Interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.
• Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
• Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule.
• Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.

Level I

• BS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear,or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5-8years of relevant professional work experience or in lieu of education, a minimum of 9-12 years of relevant professional work experience is acceptable.

Level II

• BS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear,or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 8-10years of relevant professional work experience or in lieu of education, a minimum 12-14years of relevant professional work experience is acceptable.

• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
