Project Overview

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one‑of‑a‑kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year‑round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50‑mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three‑hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary

You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s mechanical aspects are met.

Part‑Time Telework

This position is a full‑time role that offers part‑time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full‑time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part‑time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

Responsibilities
  • Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Provide direction to discipline work group consistent with project/program.
  • Develop and revise Equipment Qualification Calculations Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
  • Support the PEM/PE/EGS on interfaces with DOE, DNFSB, WDOH, and Ecology.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule and support identification and development of engineering trends and BCPs in discipline area.
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day‑to‑day work activities.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Level I – Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant professional experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Level II – Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant professional experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
