Role and ResponsibilitiesThis is an advanced position requiring thorough knowledge of process engineering theories, practices, and accepted procedures. Requires skill in engineering and design of chemical, industrial, and complex mechanical processes; and experience developing Block Flow Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and supporting analyses/documents; and the review and revision of existing designs, procedures, or objectives as necessary.
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Process Engineering.
- Minimum of eleven (11) years of applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of maintenance practices, industrial safety, and Conduct of Operations.
- Experience with products generated by other engineering disciplines (i.e., P&IDs).
- Proficient in engineering software applications.
- Proficient in MS Office including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Experience working on a Department of Energy (DOE) site.
- Current/active Professional Engineering license.
- Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings.
- Well-developed knowledge of applicable technologies and/or products.
- Able to work independently on projects and/or play a key role in broader projects.
- Rely on systemic thinking and understanding of broader organizational implications of the work being performed to solve problems.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with respect to equipment troubleshooting, deficiency trending and failure prediction.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
- Able to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information to diverse audiences, as well as working in team environments.
- Experience working under DOE Orders and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Work may be performed in a variety of locations depending on the client and project requirements.
