Join us at the Hanford Vit Plant, a Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant that turns legacy radioactive and chemical waste into a safe form for disposal. Protect the Columbia River and the surrounding wildlife while contributing to a landmark infrastructure project.
Major Responsibilities- Lead or administer work of project design and drafting personnel for a business line technology including the preparation of layouts, study drawings, and detailed 2-D and 3-D CAD design models and construction drawings.
- Develop designs for complete and complex 3-D model equipment layouts and pipe designs with minimum supervision, creating detailed scale models and/or construction drawings.
- Assist with preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
- Monitor and check work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable and safe plant operation and construction economy.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Prepare design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
- Coordinate or visit job sites as required to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
- Review design scope changes for project management.
- Endorse or prepare reports of work progress for project and discipline use.
- Ensure design and drafting comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- Level I:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience. - Level II:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience.
- Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at construction site), and background check.
- Obtain Department of Energy badge for access to Hanford Site; teleworkers must still comply with security requirements.
- Non‑U.S. citizens from DOE‑identified countries have additional security requirements limiting site access.
- Analyze diverse problems and evaluate identifiable factors.
- Select methods and techniques to obtain solutions with good judgment.
- Network and connect with senior internal and external personnel.
