Join us at the Hanford Vit Plant – the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP). We are designing and building a one‑of‑a‑kind facility to transform radioactive and chemical waste from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a safe form for disposal. The project protects the Columbia River and surrounding communities, salmon, and wildlife throughout the Northwest.

In this role your essential duties include locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations. You should be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost‑effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.

• Full‑time role with part‑time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office.
• Initial hire and onboarding require full‑time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, followed by a 9/80 schedule that offers every other Friday off.
• Telework designation may change in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

• Develop designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts & pipe designs with minimal supervision.
• When in a lead role, assign tasks to maximize the knowledge, experience, and capabilities of less experienced PD&P designers/drafters.
• Ensure compliance with approved PD&P design standards in own work and by those assigned.
• Review and check calculations, design models, drawings and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion.
• Participate in constructability reviews.
• Possess responsibility for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take‑offs and material requisitions for applicable materials.
• Work with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
• Develop work plans, budgets and schedules for basic PD&P design tasks based on supervisor input and direction.
• Answer client or construction group questions on PD&P design scope.
• Provide on‑the‑job training for personnel within PD&P design.
• Generate 2D drawings or 3D CAD design models of high complexity with minimal guidance from others.
• Ensure PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations and standards.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 2‑5 years of relevant experience, or 6‑9 years of relevant work experience.
