Children's Developmental Center is hiring a People & Operations Director to lead people, culture, and operations for our mission‑driven nonprofit. The role partners closely with the Executive Director to build an effective, compliant internal system and foster an engaged workforce, while ensuring operational excellence and technological support.

Salary range: $106,363 – $110,700 (commensurate with qualifications).
ScheduleFull‑time, exempt. Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with flexibility and occasional nights and weekends.
About The Children's Developmental CenterWe are a 46‑employee nonprofit dedicated to empowering families and improving children's lives through early intervention services including occupational therapy, speech‑language therapy, and special instruction. Our staff delivers transformative work each day, supported by strong people practices and compliant systems.
Responsibilities- Serve as trusted advisor to the Executive Director and leadership team.
- Lead HR functions: compliance, employee relations, performance management, benefits, recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
- Coach supervisors on performance, employee relations, and corrective action.
- Design and deliver training and development to enhance engagement and retention.
- Oversee facilities, vendors, office operations, and IT systems.
- Ensure operational systems support staff effectiveness, data security, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance (including HIPAA).
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, manage risk, and improve systems.
- Supervise the Administrative Manager, providing mentorship and establishing clear roles and accountability.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification required.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or manager‑level role.
- Deep knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance, with preference for Washington State experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, consultative coaching, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead culture initiatives and operational improvements.
- Commitment to mission‑driven, values‑based work environments.
- High professional ethical standards, confidentiality, and equity and inclusion commitment.
- Preferred: experience in nonprofit or human services organizations and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
- Must have valid Washington State driver's license and current vehicle insurance for local commuting.
