Responsibilities- Work with the Flight Paramedic to provide advanced critical care to patients.
- Assume ultimate responsibility for all direct patient care in accordance with Life Flight Network guidelines and protocols.
- Collaborate on patient care documentation, follow-up, and equipment management.
- Ensure safe aircraft operation, enforce safety policies, and assist pilots in navigation and flight procedures.
- Participate in business development and community outreach to promote Life Flight Network.
- Maintain clinical quality standards, including skills such as chest tube insertion, surgical airway, intubation, intraosseous insertion, and central line placement.
- Support day-to-day operations, inventory management, and statistical data compilation.
- Engage in public education and maintain a favorable public opinion of the organization.
- Minimum five (5) years of ICU/ED/Trauma experience within the last ten (10) years (flight experience may substitute for ICU/ED/Trauma). Current licensure and/or certification as follows:
- RN license appropriate to assigned location.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC), completed before independent duties.
- CFRN exam within one year of hire; certification within two years.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) preferred until CFRN certification.
- Valid state driver's license and minimum three years of driving experience.
- Maintain Airport Badge (where applicable).
- Passport and/or Canada entry may be required.
- Adhere to weight restriction (max 250 lbs fully outfitted).
- Strong leadership and communication skills for high-stress situations.
- Ability to work varied shifts, covering fixed-wing and/or ambulance calls.
