OverviewThe role is an Administrative Office Specialist 1 supporting the Program Manager of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Southwest Virginia Community College.
Responsibilities- Support the mission and goals of the SBDC, SWCC, SBA, and State SBDC network.
- Work directly with small businesses in Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, and part of Dickenson counties; assist the Program Manager with development of business plans, marketing strategies, loan applications, finance sources, business structures, licenses, and other startup/existing business issues.
- Procure office supplies/services and prepare travel arrangements.
- Assist with preparation of business‑related workshops for private individuals, businesses, and the industrial community.
- Network with civic organizations and government entities to identify sources of information and services related to small business.
- Office management and clerical experience; ability to work independently and with a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other programs (e.g., VCCS System, Canva).
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Experience with Google Docs, eVA, Calendly.
- Professional writing skills.
- Experience with office organization.
- Experience creating professional newsletters.
