About the RoleLayfield Flexible Films is seeking a Divisional Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team in Richmond, BC. This role supports the financial operations of the Flexible Films division through accurate reporting, account reconciliations, accounts receivable support, inventory accounting, cost analysis, and month‑end close activities.
What You’ll Do- Prepare, review, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operational reports, including revenue, sales, profitability, inventory, collections, and management reporting.
- Analyze financial and operational results, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve reporting accuracy and business performance.
- Support accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash receipts, customer refunds, payment applications, collections support, and customer account reconciliations.
- Assist with inventory and cost accounting activities, including inventory adjustments, standard cost updates, inventory valuation reporting, and subledger to general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform month‑end close responsibilities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, variance analysis, and support for financial statement preparation.
- Prepare required tax, insurance, commission, and government reporting, including PST, GST, EDC, Statistics Canada surveys, and sales commission schedules.
- Support budgeting, year‑end schedules, audit requests, process documentation, and internal and external financial and operational audits.
- Assist Accounts Payable with goods receipt matching, freight GRNs, supplier invoice discrepancies, and related accounting adjustments.
- Monitor intercompany sales, invoicing, and reconciliation processes between Canadian and U.S. entities.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis, process improvement recommendations, and cross‑functional support to Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Management teams.
– Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, including month‑end close, year‑end close, accounts receivable, and accounts payable exposure.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, concepts, and GAAP.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage interruptions, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.

This is a full‑time, permanent position based in Richmond, BC. The role is performed primarily in a standard office environment, Monday to Friday.
Compensation & BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. Layfield offers a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health benefits, vacation benefits, and an employer‑matched RRSP contribution plan.
