Job duties:

  • Review project drawings, specifications and related documentation to determine material, labour and equipment requirements.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil construction projects.
  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare bid packages, cost summaries and tender submissions.
  • Participate in project budgeting and cost forecasting activities.
  • Assist in reviewing contract documents and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers and site personnel to confirm scope and pricing.
  • Monitor project progress and update cost projections as required.
  • Maintain cost databases and estimation records.
  • Support procurement and contract administration processes.

Terms of employment:
Permanent and full-time.

Wage: $46.15 per hour.

Skills requirements:

Required education:

  • A college diploma in civil or construction engineering technology or a closely-related field or several years of work experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical are required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field would be an asset.

Required work experience and skills:

  • At least 2 years of relevant/related work experience.
  • Experience in construction cost estimation.
  • Experience preparing quantity take-offs and tender documents.
  • Experience analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience supporting the bidding and procurement processes.
  • Able to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cost estimation software.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain Certification by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS).
