Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 200,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. Richmond Hospital is focused on meeting the needs of the people it serves and is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to an adult population in a team‑based model. Richmond is the fourth most populous and fast growing municipality in Metro Vancouver.
As part of VCH’s plans for future capacity, the facility will undergo campus‑wide expansion expected to complete by 2028.
The role requires a client‑centered, recovery‑focused approach, coordinating with community partners such as Mental Health Teams & Assertive Community Treatment.
Responsibilities
Provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, and liaises with primary care team for integrated patient care.
Provides assessment, daily management, rounding on psychiatric clients admitted to the unit.
Works as integral part of the team providing leadership as the Most Responsible Physician treating the patients.
Qualifications
Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) Full License
Member of Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
Previous experience working in an inpatient unit is an asset.
