Position: Study Buddy Mentor Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland Dec 23, 2025

Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland enables transformational mentoring relationships to inspire, ignite and unleash the power and potential of youth. Big Sisters core mentorship programs offer a safe space for self-identifying girls, non-binary, transgender and gender-diverse youth to work with caring mentors to realize their full potential. It takes just one stable, committed adult in a young person’s life to make a difference.

By matching youth with adult volunteers in quality one-to-one and group mentoring relationships, Big Sisters ensure girls and gender-diverse youth can access the support they need to thrive.

Be that person in a kid’s corner.

Big Sisters of B.C. Lower Mainland is looking for caring volunteer mentors for our 1:1 Study Buddy program who will support girls and gender-diverse youth (aged 7-17) with an academic role model to improve their school performance and reach educational goals. Mentors meet with their mentee for 1 hour per week for at least six months at a mutually convenient location (such as a library) to work on schoolwork.

During these sessions, mentors provide academic support, help set and achieve educational goals, and encourage the importance of staying in school. Matches can continue year-round, including through the summer, allowing mentors and youth to build a stronger connection over time.
