Choice School Music Teacher (Part-time)

Choice School for Gifted Children in Richmond, B.C. is a ministry-designated Special Education School that specializes in providing an emotionally nurturing and intellectually challenging learning environment for gifted students in grades K through 8. We are seeking a motivated educator to teach music to our high-achieving students. The opportunity will be part-time (one or two days per week).

• Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent.
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Successful experience in Elementary Music instruction.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods.
• Working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for the Fine Arts.
• Commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning.
• Ability to teach a variety of instruments.
• Ability to work collegially as part of a school staff.
• Comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events.
• Ability to relate effectively to all elementary school students.
• Ability to promote support for the school’s Music program.
• Successful recent experience working with students with special needs.
