POSITION TITLE:
Employment Counsellor/Facilitator
PROGRAM:
Warehouse Abilities & Additional Employment Services support as needed
REPORTS TO:
Program Manager
LOCATION:
Richmond – Travel to BiM office locations, off-site certification facilities, and employer sites required
STATUS: 30 hours/week
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Friday 30 hours per week (on occasion may be required to work weekends and evenings)
HOURLY RANGE: $27-30/hour
START DATE:

Program Overview
9-week Warehouse Abilities training program delivered by Back in Motion Rehab Inc. and Universal Learning Institute
Includes soft skills, essential skills, warehouse operations training, certifications, and hands‑on experience
Provides accessibility, employment readiness, and ongoing job search/retention support
Designed for individuals with multiple employment barriers (including persons with disabilities)
Role Summary – Employment Counsellor/Facilitator
Supports participants from intake to program completion
Conducts screening, assessments, and develops individualized training plans
Facilitates cohort‑based workshops (employment readiness, life skills, job search)
Provides ongoing 1:1 guidance to keep participants on track toward employment
Coordinates with staff, ULI, and employers to secure work experience and job opportunities
Key Responsibilities
Deliver workshops (in‑person and virtual) on employability, soft/essential skills, and job readiness
Identify participant needs (financial, accessibility, etc.) and connect to resources
Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and update databases
Collaborate with team members and community partners
Address employment barriers using labour market knowledge and client‑focused support
Contribute to program improvement and achieve performance targets
Qualifications & Experience
2+ years in case management, employment counselling, or working with multi‑barrier clients
Experience facilitating group training and job readiness workshops
Knowledge of labour market trends, community resources, and employment barriers
Post‑secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience
Key Skills
Strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to motivate and support diverse client groups
Experience with assessments, career planning, and referrals
Team‑oriented, adaptable, and able to work independently
Additional languages and experience with employment programs are assets
