BCIT’s School of Transportation is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) BCGEU Faculty, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘E’ (Electronics). The role is associated with the technical program area at the Aerospace Campus. The successful candidate will deliver the approved Transport Canada and Canadian Council of Aviation and Aerospace curriculum for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘E’ (Electronics). DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching, evaluating and preparing for the delivery of theory (in class) and practical (in shop) activities.
- Performing administrative duties include grading all types of student evaluations including assignments, practical projects, quizzes, exams and/or test.
- Completing curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
- Communicating and collaborating with the Department Heads, faculty members, program assistants and other support staff e.g. library, test centre.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and practical skills necessary to instruct all aspects of the approved curriculum based on the applicable accrediting bodies e.g. Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace (CCAA) and Transport Canada (TC).
- Ability to apply knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) 566 and how it relates to the AME personnel licensing system;
- Performing duties directly related to the support and delivery of the programs.
- Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License Category E;
- Five years of industry experience in related field an asset;
- Previous industry and/or post-secondary teaching experience would be an asset;
- Strong communication skills in the English language – both written and oral.
- Proficiency with computer applications e.g. Microsoft Office 360 and/or on-line learning systems.
- Proven track record of working effectively within a team environment including strong interpersonal skills;
- Provincial Instructor Diploma (VCC or other post secondary institutions) and/or Instructional Skills Workshop (BCIT) would be an asset.
Salary Range: $78,133 - $115,805 per annum.
Additional Salary Information: Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
