Pythagoras Academy is currently seeking an experienced primary teacher starting August 27, 2024.
Job DescriptionPythagoras Academy is an exceptional co‑educational independent school for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our school prides itself on a unique educational philosophy that champions the role of the Fine Arts. We encourage creativity in our students and consider it one of the most valuable and transferable core skills.
Contract:
Full Time.
Start Date:
August 27, 2024.
- Ability to work effectively with students with varying challenges and unique needs.
- Able to provide intellectual and behavior support to students.
- Teach prepared lesson plans and lead interactive learning activities.
- Initiate and facilitate classroom discussions.
- Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning.
- Accompany classes on field trips.
- Promote and maintain high standards of behavior, respect, and safety within the classroom.
- Create a safe and caring relationship with students that supports their growth and development.
- Develop a positive, safe culture through actions and words.
- Integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines.
- Possess or be in the process of obtaining a valid BC Teaching Certificate.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education.
- Model a strong work ethic and high standards of commitment.
- Foster school mission, values, and sense of community through student‑centered decisions.
- Effectively communicate with staff, parents, and students.
- Maintain professionalism through all school interactions and activities.
- Passion: deeply enjoy the craft of educating and focus on inspiring students.
- Technical knowledge: understand how to help students gain skills and a deeper understanding of concepts.
- Curiosity: naturally curious and foster that curiosity in students.
- Innovation: design novel and engaging methods of instruction.
- Social‑Emotional Intelligence: skilled at teaching in a way that helps students feel safe to be themselves and develop confidence.
Compensation:
Pythagoras Academy teaching salaries are 5% above Richmond School Board salaries.
